Dear Customer,

Thank you for being a valued QuickBooks Point of Sale customer. Intuit introduced QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale over 20 years ago to help retailers better manage their stores and we're proud to have supported you. However, the platform on which the software is built is unique, requires complex maintenance and makes introducing new features very difficult. Consequently, Intuit made the decision to discontinue QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0 as of October 3, 2023.

There will be no future versions of QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale software. We are working with Clover POS Desktop Software (commercetech.com) to provide an optional POS solution for your business (see details below).

What is changing?

In addition to the QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale software being discontinued, the following connected services will also be turned off on October 3, 2023:

  • QuickBooks Point of Sale Payments
  • QuickBooks Point of Sale Gift Card Service
  • Mobile Sync
  • Financial Sync
  • Store Exchange
  • E-commerce integration with Webgility
  • Support Plans including Live Support (phone, email, chat)
  • Vendor Lookup Service

You can continue to use QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0 without these services after October 3, 2023, but Intuit will no longer provide support, including important security patches to help protect your information from cyberattacks and data theft.

What's Next?

We are working with Clover to offer a Point of Sale option that integrates with QuickBooks Software similar to the Financial Sync using https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/appdetails/clover/ or https://www.webgility.com/integrations/clover-pos

Clover's Point of Sale and Payments solution allows you to manage both in-store and online sales in one place with features including remote access, enhanced reporting, a modern user interface, and multi-channel selling with https://www.bigcommerce.com/clover/.

Commerce Technologies will provide QuickBooks Point of Sale customers who choose to make the transition with free migration, premium onboarding, free 24/7 support, and exclusive software and hardware with discounts up to 50% off through August 31, 2023.

What are my options?

We offer several Point of Sale solutions. To help with the transition, Commerce Technologies is working with Clover to offer a Point of Sale option which integrates with QuickBooks Financial Software.

What if I want to keep using QuickBooks Point of Sale?

You can still use QuickBooks Desktop POS software, but the product will no longer be supported by Intuit. This means you will no longer receive security patch updates and Payments and Connected Services will be discontinued.

What if I need additional seats or more hardware? 

Existing QuickBooks Point of Sale 19.0 customers can purchase additional users on existing licenses and hardware for QuickBooks Point of Sale here https://commercetech.com/pos/quickbooks-pos/ until 10/3/23.

When will QuickBooks Point of Sale Payments no longer work with QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0? 

QuickBooks Point of Sale Payments will no longer work with QuickBooks Point of Sale software after October 3, 2023. (But will work with our integrated Payments with the guaranteed lowest rates by applying)

Will there be support to help me transition to Clover POS? 

Yes. We offer free migration tools to help you import your QuickBooks Point of Sale customers, vendors and inventory lists into the Clover software, as well as, premium onboarding assistance and free 24/7 support.
